ChM. Dr. Muhammad Hakimin Shafie started pursuing his Diploma in Science at the Universiti Teknologi MARA, Perlis, Malaysia in 2012 and furthered his bachelor’s degree at the same university in 2015. He was also a student leader, who was being elected twice as a member of the Student Representative Council (MPP) during his diploma studies as an Exco of Academic & Career (2013/14) and as a President (2016/2017) during bachelor’s degree. He was also elected as the President of the Applied Chemistry Association of UiTM Perlis Branch from 2016 to 2017. He started his postgraduate studies as a master student and after 7 months of his study, he successfully converted his master’s degree to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). He made excellent progress throughout the study, where he submitted his thesis for viva voce by 25 months after the date of registration and completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Food Biochemistry in 2021. His career began as a Post-doctoral fellow at Analytical Biochemistry Research Centre (ABrC), Universiti Sains Malaysia in July 2021. In August 2022, he was offered to be a senior lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia until present. He is a hardworking person and highly committed to his work. Currently, he is working with his research group on identification of anti-diabetic, anti-hypertension, anti-obesity and anti-hyperpigmentation of polysaccharide and protein which addresses the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3) – Good Health and wellbeing. In addition, he has an inquisitive mind that always wants to probe something to the very basic. With his superior quality, talent and persistence in pursuing objectives in research and development, his works were mostly published in international WOS Quartile 1 journals and chapter in book, thus, awarding him with the USM Sanggar Sanjung Award (Journal Publication Category) from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2018 and 2021. He was also a very active person involved in conferences/seminars at the international and national levels. With his outstanding talent in research and development, he was awarded with 1 gold medal and 3 silver medals for conferences/seminars. Apart from that, Dr. Muhammad Hakimin has shown an extremely high level of intellectual curiosity, independence and self-motivation. He has shown numerous examples of his talent and has long been impressed by his diligence and work ethic. He has performed extremely well in research. He is a very hardworking and dedicated individual with good analytical skills. As an academic scholar, he holds the highest academic integrity. He pursues academic activities appropriately and intellectually, according to his area of expertise. In terms of research, he is very particular about conducting research ethically, reporting all the findings truthfully and not using other people’s work or ideas. Dr. Muhammad Hakimin also has a pleasant personality and can get along very well with other team members. He can definitely work together in a team and even lead a team. In his spare time, he loves gardening, cooking and playing with his cats.
