Dr. Mehdi Baghayeri, born September 19, 1981 in Sabzevar, studied chemistry at the universities of Tabriz (BSc) and Mazandaran (MSc. and PhD.). In 2010, he was invited to visit Aarhus University, Denmark as a visiting scholar for six months to work in the laboratory of Prof. E. Ferapontova. In 2012 he joined to the Hakim Sabzevari University (HSU) as assistant professor working in the field of development of electrochemical sensors and biosensors. He was subsequently promoted in 2017 to associate professor with tenure. He is also appointed and working as the Dean of the Faculty of Science at HSU from December 2021.
With a strong background in nanotechnology and materials science, particularly in the synthesis, analysis, and functionalization of nanomaterials, MOFs, and polymer-based nanocomposite materials, he specializes in their applications in fabricating electrochemical sensors and biosensors. His research focuses on developing sensitive and accurate biosensors through the proper interaction of various biomolecules (DNA, proteins, aptamers, etc.) with nanomaterials. By leveraging nanotechnology, materials science, and biochemistry, he has made significant contributions in healthcare, environmental monitoring, and food safety.
Dr. Baghayeri has had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed research group leaders on various projects, fostering international partnerships, and advancing scientific knowledge. Notably, He has closely worked with Prof. Oliver Reiser from Universität Regensburg in Regensburg, Germany; Prof. Hassan Karimi-Maleh from the School of Resources and Environment, University of Electronics Science and Technology of China (UESTC), China; and Prof. Cosimino Malitesta from Università del Salento in Lecce, Italy. He was honored to be included in the World's Top 1% Scientists List compiled by Web of Science in 2021, 2022. Additionally, his expertise and research contributions were acknowledged by Stanford University, as he was listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists in both 2020, 2021 and 2022.
